Financial Controller
Financial Controller This role brings an opportunity to step up from pure monthly financial reporting, working with the management team of a successful, long-established company on the North Shore. There is a small team to work with and a new system to bed down, but mainly the role involves working with the existing information to make it mean something to the management team, finding new ways of measuring what is going on, and fronting up with ideas of improving not just the accounting system but the way the company prices its work. Don't wait for the MD to say, 'how much does it cost us to do…' anticipate the question and come up with the answers to questions he hasn't thought of, too. Your industry background doesn't really matter here expect that it would be helpful if you were used to an integrated accounting system handling large numbers of varying sizes of transactions. CA, CIMA or ACCA qualifications would be preferred but your attitude and ability is more important. And no wilting violets – as they say, it doesn't matter what you know if you can't communicate about it. Bounce into this role, don't sidle. Culturally the company is lively, excited about business and thrilled to be doing well through the recession. They are not complacent, however; as Financial Controller you will have responsibility as the forecaster of any cash or profit dips on the horizon. So if you are ready for your first seat at the management table this is perfect, especially if you are north of the bridge. (Not that you wouldn't be welcome if you wanted to travel over, of course!) If you are already registered with Phoenix drop me a line as I may be in touch shortly anyway, but let's work together on this.
